Future projects to be funded by Cwlwm Monduli

Drought-resistant Plants and Crops

Working in collaboration with a small Tanzanian horticultural charity, we have purchased 300 tree saplings which are being grown on to provide protection against drought and soil erosion. Cuttings will be taken from mature trees to enable the project to be duplicated by more villages around Monduli.

We are collaborating with the Maasae Girls Secondary School in Monduli to plant drought-resistant fodder trees, shrubs, grass and indigenous vegetables. Seedlings and instructors came from the Echo East Africa Impact Centre in Arusha. School land has recently been cleared ready for planting after the rainy season.

School Uniforms

Primary education is free but the children have to have a uniform and provide their own exercise books and pens, pencils etc. Some children can’t go to school because they can’t afford the uniform etc. HIV is a problem with a fairly large number of orphans so this situation is likely to be ongoing. Cwlwm Monduli is setting up a fund so that children are not denied education through poverty. The need for school uniforms still continues.
