Cwlwm Monduli is a registered charity which was set up in 1985 to enable Carmarthen people (although we welcome support from anywhere) to help the people in the Arusha region of Tanzania in East Africa, particularly in the district of Monduli in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro. In so doing we have developed mutual friendship between our respective communities. Our main objective is to provide financial support to community based projects for which government funding is not available.
How and why Cwlwm Monduli was established:
In 1985 David James, a bank clerk in Carmarthen, went on an exchange arranged by the Young Farmers Clubs to Tanzania. He became fascinated by the country and people, married a local girl and came back determined to make a link with Carmarthen and do something to help alleviate the awful poverty he saw in Tanzania.
